Rent a Starlink Mini in Venice
Venice connects to the world. The Dolomites 2 hours north connect to satellites — and not much else.
From €29/day · 100-200 Mbps · No Starlink account needed
Venice is the closest major airport to the Dolomites — Italy's most spectacular mountain range and a UNESCO World Heritage site. The Dolomite peaks and valleys draw hikers, climbers, and via ferrata enthusiasts from around the world. The cell coverage in the mountains doesn't match the ambition.
Where your phone stops working near Venice
Dolomites (deep valleys between peaks — many rifugios have zero signal), Cadore region, Belluno province mountains, Prosecco hills (surprisingly rural), lagoon islands beyond Murano/Burano.
Road trips from Venice
Venice → Dolomites (Cortina d'Ampezzo)
2 hours north. Italy's most famous mountain town — the town has signal, the hiking trails don't.
Venice → Tre Cime di Lavaredo
2.5 hours north. Iconic triple peaks — the rifugio might have satellite WiFi, the trails have nothing.
Venice → Prosecco hills
1 hour north. UNESCO vineyards — charming but connectivity drops in the valleys.
Local tip
The Dolomites have the best mountain scenery in Europe — and many rifugios (mountain huts) are now installing Starlink for their guests. If you're staying in the valleys between, you'll want your own connection.
I'm a travel photographer based in Valencia. I need to upload 20GB shoots from locations with zero signal. SkyRelay changed my workflow completely — I uploaded a full wedding shoot from a cliff near Jávea.
